The idea of creating objects or sculptures had appealed to me for quite a while. So when I was asked to give a workshop based on my 'text painting' at both Delapre Abbey and Rushden Lakes Visitor Centre, I saw this as my chance. Students are shown how to make and decorate a wooden sculpture of their own using the words from a poem by John Clare. They will rip, tear, and glue words to create a unique design.
Using the inspiration of the Northamptonshire poet John Clare I designed a series of my favourite animals as standing sculptures. They are decorated with words from his poetry to show texture and to enable viewer to read the poem too.
If you are interested in booking a workshop making sculptures please contact me. I can prepare a workshop for 10 people which can run from 3-5 hours.
