Jamie Poole Collage Poetry Artist

The ever-changing landscapes, dramatic seascapes, and diverse wildlife of the British Isles are at the heart of my creative practice. Since taking the leap to become a full-time artist this year, I’ve found even more time to immerse myself in the natural world and translate those experiences into art. My days are often punctuated by chance encounters with wildlife—otters gliding through rivers, red kites circling overhead, or the fleeting glimpse of a hare or fox. These moments never fail to spark new ideas and often become the foundation for my latest pieces.

A significant development in my work has been my exploration of lino printing, which has allowed me to capture the energy and character of British animals and birds in a bold, tactile way. Alongside this, I continue to teach art classes both in-person and online, sharing my passion for creativity and helping others discover their own artistic voice.

Poetry, especially the evocative words of John Clare, remains a profound influence. I weave lines of verse into my collages, building up layers of paper and text to create richly textured artworks. Highlights include commissioned portraits of WB Yeats for the BBC and Agnes Nieman for Harvard University.
