In the last few years I have been more and more inspired by lino printing as many people have. I found myself with a strong desire to have my own printing press but soon realised that these things can be very expensive if you want one of a good size.
I wanted a press that would have the capacity to print A2 size (42.0 x 59.4cm). Having bought a portable relief printing press and feeling unsatisfied I began to get excited about the idea of making my own using wood.
I enjoy working with wood occasionally and the challenge of making a beautiful object that had practical use, moving parts and to the size I most wanted got me thinking. I had seen pictures of 18th Century printing presses online and the idea began to seem like a possibility.
